Learning To Share The Nuts & Bolts Of Knowledge

When my daughter was training to be a teacher, there were so many different aspects of her teacher training programme that seemed entirely wasteful to her.  She had already gained a decent degree in music but had not really thought about what she planned to do with it.  After a couple of years as a very junior civil servant in an entirely unrelated field, she decided to become a teacher – of music.  This is one of the subjects that has a greater emphasis on practical skills – youngsters today will only stick with the subject if they hear something of it, rather than reading out the sounds.  There are however some amazing online tutoring courses that really help the teacher to get into the good habits of engaging youngsters in the theory side of music – the nuts and bolts of the subject.  These have been a boon to her and her students too.
